Young Musicians’ Summer Institute


The Young Musicians’ Summer Institute is a unique summer enrichment program designed to inspire creativity, curiosity, confidence, and musical growth in young musicians.

Through engaging programs and workshops, including collaborative activities, musical games, creative projects, and performance experiences, students will explore music in ways that extend beyond the traditional lesson setting. The Institute provides an encouraging and stimulating environment where young musicians can deepen their understanding of music while connecting with like-minded peers.

Our goal is to cultivate not only strong musicianship, but also imagination, confidence, independence, and a lifelong love of music.


Who Is the Young Musicians’ Summer Institute Designed For?

The Young Musicians’ Summer Institute is designed for students who are eager to explore music in a fun, engaging, and meaningful way.

The program welcomes students of varying experience levels and is especially beneficial for students who:

  • Wish to strengthen their musical skills
  • Are interested in developing confidence and independence
  • Enjoy collaborating with other young musicians
  • Are looking for a rich musical experience during the summer months

What Makes the Institute Unique?

Unlike traditional summer camps, the Young Musicians’ Summer Institute combines high-quality musical instruction with creativity, exploration, and community-building.

Students participate in activities that may include:

  • Music and movement
  • Rhythm and listening games
  • Improvisation and composition
  • Storytelling through music
  • Collaborative music-making
  • Creative projects and challenges
  • Informal performance opportunities

Each week is built around a unique theme designed to inspire curiosity and imagination while helping students develop important musical and personal skills!

A 3-day program where students discover evidence-based practice strategies demonstrated on their current repertoire, while learning skills that help develop musical planning pre-performance preparation in a supportive environment.

Work Smarter, Not Harder: The Science of Effective Practice
Saturday, August 22, 1:00-3:00pm (ONLINE)

Learn evidence-based strategies to make practice more efficient, productive, and enjoyable. Based on the most recent research in music practice and performance, this workshop teaches students how to practice more efficiently, improve retention, and make meaningful progress in less time.

Finding Flow in Music Performance (ONLINE)

Discover how to improve focus, confidence, and performance readiness through the principles of flow. Explore the psychology of optimal performance, concentration, confidence, and musical engagement. Students will learn practical strategies to help optimal performance.

The Performance Lab
Saturday, August 22, 4:00-6:00pm (IN PERSON)

A supportive masterclass-style workshop where students perform their repertoire, receive coaching, and apply performance pscyhology and practice strategies to current problems. Come learn how to improve flow on stage in a supportive masterclass environment.

Composition Workshop


Composition Intensive: Creating Your Own Music (ONLINE, Ages 8-14)

Every composer starts with an idea. In this creative four-week workshop, students will learn how to turn simple musical ideas into original pieces of music. No prior composition experience required!

Through guided activities and collaborative exploration, students will:

Parents play an important role in a child’s musical development. Drawing on current research and practical teaching experience, this workshop explores how parents can support effective practice, encourage motivation, foster independence, and create conditions that help children thrive musically.
